Elley-Long Music Center at St. Michael’s College (map)
1 PM | MASTERCLASS II with LCCMF Young Artists Quartet and Marcy Rosen, cello
3 PM | INSIDE PITCH with DAVID SERKIN LUDWIG
Folklore: The Future of Tradition
The incorporation of folk songs into composed music as a way to create new sounds and evoke cultural memory has existed for nearly as long as composers started writing music. In this Inside Pitch, we will trace the history of this practice, traversing nearly a thousand years of notated music through the works of composers from our Folklore festival theme and more.
5 PM | YOUNG COMPOSERS SOUNDING BOARD II
Recording Session
Written by our 2024 Young Composers and performed by our festival artists, this recording session will be guided by our Grammy-winning Audio Producer, Alan Bise, as we capture these new compositions for the first time. This interactive session gives audience members a glimpse into the creative process of bringing a new composition to life.
